God’s Love as demonstrated through “Thy Neighbor”
My prayer for our country is that we would all pull together and unite as Americans. I have a story that just happened this morning, to share.
My next door neighbor is Democrat and we are Republican. Through the 2016 election cycle we still shared coffee and cake at each other’s houses. Through these 4 years she has grown to detest Trump. Still, we have each managed to “love our neighbor.” She is stressed over this upcoming election and voting for Biden. I am voting for Trump and equally stressed should Biden win (but give it to GOD who chooses Kings and rulers of nations.)
Recently our family had a family crisis. Without going into detail, I had shared all of this with my neighbor. This morning she called, I put on my mask out of respect for her, and opened the garage door. She and her daughter decided to go “pick up a few things.” I stood amazed at her heart and wonder how many of us are looking at hearts today in our nation?
Among that same line, if we were seeing through political eyes, I had another dear family member, a true sister in my heart, do the same thing for us just through a different avenue. She is for Trump. She would be upset if I shared what she did, but she also gave of herself and her means to meet another’s need.
So, this is the beautiful takeaway, friends. We need to open the eyes of our heart. We need to see HEARTS not POLITICS as we go through the ordeal we are all going through. I am so glad God’s ways are not our ways, aren’t you?
In His Service ~MJ Johnson
“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.” (Mt. 6:25-34)
