Still I Grow

Love is so much more than a feeling, it’s alive and like all living things it grows.

When I was born I loved myself. My world was me. It was measured by my needs being met by others. And then I grew…

As a child my love was myself but now I included others…I measure it by my family’s love for me, my peers love for me, even my boyfriends love for me. And then I grew…

As a young mother my love was for my family…it was outside of myself. I wanted nothing more than for them to feel loved. And while still they hold the highest part of my heart today, I grew…

As an elderly woman my love branched out. I found it in hearts all around, in the shopping centers, in the everyday life of those around me. I found it in my grandchildren and in extended family…brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews…great nieces and nephews, young hearts, old hearts, foolish hearts and wise hearts. And still I grow…

I reflect on the ability of this heart to love and be loved. It seems to grow with age, to branch out, to open, to absorb the heart of others and in return nourish my own. It is the heart of Christ in me…the heart of Christ in you.

Let us remember these words from Jesus in Mark 12:30-31 “The most important one,” answered Jesus, is this: “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these.”

But wait! There’s more… P.I.C.C. will be hitting the trails again to help those in need. We are asking our friends for prayers and financial gifts of support in order to meet the needs. Harvest-time our goal is to be ready to impact souls for the sake of the Gospel. We would like to give small practical gifts with the scriptures, the Words of Life, inside every one. Giving is easy on every page. Just look for the Donate Button. We Are the People In Charge of Change.
